Therapeutic Modalities

Therapeutic massage makes an important contribution to overall physical and mental well-being. It has been shown to relieve pain, enhance energy, increase flexibility, and help to integrate mind, body, form and function.

Each therapeutic massage is tailored to the needs of the individual and may incorporate many modalities into a single session.

Classic Western (Swedish) Massage

Utilizes a variety of long, flowing strokes, gentle kneading and circular motions to promote relaxation. This massage aids in reducing muscle tension, relieves aches and pains, improves circulation, and stimulates the nervous system.

Deep Tissue / Trigger Point Therapy

Incorporates deep strokes and targeted pressure aimed at specific muscles, muscle groups, or single points on a muscle. Effective for releasing chronic muscular tension and pain caused by trauma, repetitive injuries, post surgical scarring and poor posture.

SMRT - Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique

Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique is a medical message modality that uses passive contraction of muscles, ligaments and tendons to influence the body’s proprioceptors toward a more comfortable, balanced state. These techniques often yield results more quickly and with less pain than traditional deep tissue massage techniques.

Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system is the body’s waste disposal system, it clears bacteria, excess water, proteins and other wastes from connective tissues. Lymphatic Drainage uses a series of techniques to detoxify and decongest the tissues, resulting in a reduction in inflammation and pain.

Reflexology / Acupressure

Based on the ancient Chinese theory of energy meridians running throughout the body. This modality focuses and concentrates on specific points along the body which correspond to specific organs, organ systems and areas of the body.

Sports Massage

Combines deep tissue massage with stretching and range of motion techniques. Loosens muscles to increase flexibility, reduce muscular tension and promote faster muscle recovery.

Myofascial Release

Is a mind-body therapeutic healing approach that is safe, comprehensive and highly effective in relieving pain, headaches and restoring motion. The goal of this modality is to return the individual to a pain free, active lifestyle.
